Ryan Lappi (he, him, his)

Ryan earned his master’s degree in social work from Metropolitan State University in Denver. As a lead therapist at one of the nation's leading intensive treatment centers for intimacy disorders, Ryan has been on the cutting edge of trauma-based healing, helping hundreds of men and partners from across the country struggling with intimacy, trauma, betrayal, addiction, and relationship crisis. He thrives as both an individual and group therapist, specializing in experiential therapeutic modalities, helping clients find the courage to face their fears and discover authenticity in the process.

An avid musician and meditator, Ryan integrates creativity, mindfulness-based tools, and insight into a grounded, “person-in-environment” social work perspective. This means that he doesn’t just help clients, in the words of Cornel West, “become well adjusted to injustice.” Instead, he helps them understand the context in which their problems arose and empower them to be agents of change not just for themselves, but in their communities as well. He sees creativity as a natural extension of the recovery path, encouraging clients to connect with their own creative path, weaving in humor and warmth along the way.

Clients value Ryan’s ability to be patient and results-driven, helping harness their strengths while holding them accountable. He’s not afraid to challenge or confront unhealthy or abusive patterns and narratives. Still, he sees clients’ inherent goodness and capacity to thrive , and he will help them cultivate somatic awareness, curiosity, and practical relational and executive functioning skills. He’s compassionate and values diverse relationship styles and orientations, creating a safe space for both individuals and couples to explore acute, complex, societal, and relational traumas free of judgment or shame.

Ryan utilizes a number of approaches, including Attachment Theory, Mindfulness Based Addiction Treatment, Polyvegal Theory, parts work (IFS & TIST), Buddhist Psychology, and Non-violent Communication. He is also trained in Brainspotting and is a Certified Rainbow Advocate & Educator, working with and advocating for the LGBT2QIA+ community.
