Brainspotting in Colorado
Brainspotting is a focused and powerful psychotherapy method developed by David Grand in his work with 9/11 victims. An offshoot of EMDR, it utilizes fixed eye positions—or "brainspots"—to access and process the deep, non-verbal, neurophysiological origins of emotional and physical pain or trauma. Operating on the principle that "where you look affects how you feel," this "bottom-up" somatic therapy aims to bypass the conscious, cognitive brain to reach subcortical regions where distress is stored. During a session, I help the client locate a specific gaze position that elicits the strongest internal physical or emotional response, often with the aid of bilateral sound, allowing their brain to self-scan and promote healing while I provide attuned, gentle support. Primarily used for trauma and PTSD, brainspotting is also applied to treat anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and performance blocks. I treated over 120 clients with this modality and have found it to be fast, highly effective, and quickly accessible method of healing!
